چکیده
Husimi's Q(α) function and quantum interference in phase space Abstract We discuss a phase space description of the photon number distribution of non classical states which is based on Husimi's Q(α) function and does not rely in the WKB approximation. We illustrate this approach using the examples of displaced number states and two photon coherent states and show it to provide an efficient method for computing and interpreting the photon number distribution. This result is interesting in particular for the two photon coherent states which, for high squeezing, have the probabilities of even and odd photon numbers oscillating independently.

Distribution of Husimi zeros in polygonal billiards.
The zeros of the Husimi function provide a minimal description of individual quantum eigenstates and their distribution is of considerable interest. We provide here a numerical study for pseudointegrable billiards which suggests that the zeros tend to diffuse over phase space in a manner reminiscent of chaotic systems but nevertheless contain a subtle signature of pseudointegrability. We also f...
متن کاملGeneration of Nonclassical States of the Radiation Field in the System of a Single Trapped Atom in a Cavity within the First Order of the Lamb-Dicke Approximation
In this paper, we propose a theoretical scheme for the generation of non-classical states of the cavity field in a system of a single trapped atom via controlling the Lamb-Dicke parameter. By exploiting the super-operator method, we obtain an analytical expression for the density operator of the system by which we examine the dynamical behaviors of the atomic population inversion, the phase-spa...

Using coherent-state representations of quantum mechanics (Bargmann, Husimi, and stellar representations), we describe analytically the phase-space structure of the general eigenstates corresponding to a 1-dimensional bilinear hyperbolic Hamil-tonian, H = pq or equivalently H = 1 2 (P 2 − Q 2). Their semi-classical behaviour is discussed for eigenvalues either near or away from the separatrix e...
متن کاملPoincare Husimi representation of eigenstates in quantum billiards.
For the representation of eigenstates on a Poincare section at the boundary of a billiard different variants have been proposed. We compare these Poincare Husimi functions, discuss their properties, and based on this select one particularly suited definition. For the mean behavior of these Poincare Husimi functions an asymptotic expression is derived, including a uniform approximation. We estab...
متن کاملHusimi functions at dielectric interfaces: Inside-outside duality for optical systems and beyond
– We introduce generalized Husimi functions at the interfaces of dielectric systems. Four different functions can be defined, corresponding to the incident and departing wave on both sides of the interface. These functions allow to identify mechanisms of wave confinement and escape directions in optical microresonators, and give insight into the structure of resonance wave functions. Off resona...
